Elon Musk is starting from scratch to build Twitter. After laying off almost 5000 employees in a single month, Musk says that Twitter is again hiring again, this time for Twitter 2.0. Over the weekend, the billionaire made impending plans and new features that would soon be available on the microblogging platform known. Musk also shared his hiring methods given that he has fired more than half of the staff.
On Sunday, the newly appointed CEO of Twitter declared that he had started hiring for his Twitter 2.0 — The Everything App. Musk started extending invitations to meetings to the remaining staff members who knew how to code after approximately 1200 software engineers left.
The technology stack 'has to be rebuilt from scratch,' according to Musk, who just said this in a meeting. He had suggested 'slightly decentralising[] things by setting up engineering teams in Japan, India, Indonesia, and Brazil' as a good idea. According to reports, Twitter's technical and sales teams are actively seeking new employees worldwide.
The number of Twitter's 'monetizable daily active users (mDAUs) have crossed the quarter-billion mark,' according to Musk, and its user active minutes are at an all-time high. Additionally, he stated that 'reported impersonation increased and then fell, and hate speech impressions are lower.'
Additionally, the head of Twitter stated that new user signups are at a “all-time high.” The increased emphasis on video and advertising as sources of entertainment in Twitter 2.0, according to Musk, is another revelation. Users of Twitter will soon be able to send and receive encrypted direct messages (DMs), long-form tweets, payments, and the revival of Blue verified.
Twitter recently took away the Blue verification option that it had made available to some users. Musk would reportedly commence the Blue verification in full on December 2.
